Sultan Abdul Halim: The passing of a ‘People’s King’

It is with our regret that we share the heartbreaking news of one of Malaysia’s most exemplary rulers – His Majesty Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah – who sadly passed away today on 11 September 2017.

Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah was one of the world’s longest-serving rulers, having ruled the Malaysian state of Kedah for 59 years. He also served as Malaysia’s fifth Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 1970 to 1975 and the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 2011 to 2016.

The MTFA would like to offer our deepest condolences to His Majesty’s family during this difficult time, as well as to all Malaysians who are mourning the loss of one the country’s greatest ever leaders.
