On 7 October 2017, President of the MTFA Dato’ Latt Shariman Abdullah was in attendance of the granting of the Royal Kathina by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Thailand, H.E. Ambassador Panyarak Poolthub; who led a delegation representing His Majesty Rama X King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand.
The ceremony – an ancient tradition marking the end of Buddhist lent after a month-long rainy season and celebrated by the making of merit to monks – was held at the renowned Wat Chetawan temple complex in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Honorary guests were also hosted to a dinner by the Royal Thai Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Damrong Kraikruan, at his official residence in Kuala Lumpur.
